Hi Joshua, I enjoyed your session as one of the best at the web 2.0 expo in NY last week. Your points about what a community is and is not should be heard by many major corporations wanting to get into social. In my market, too many companies are just popping up a youtube page with innocuous content hoping that people are just going to pass them all over the place and join their group. Your book is very helpful as well. Thx!

I´ve hade a great laugh about the Basecamp Buzz testimonials. But I’m afraid I have to agree on their point, even though it just looks like a copyrighter who has gone mad.

Hi,

I just finished reading 'Designing for the Social Web'. It was absolutely terrific.

Given the importance you place on testimonials, I thought I'd give you one. I work for Cambridge University Press, the oldest publisher in the world. Like the rest of the industry, we're doing all we can to make sure our business still exists in twenty years time. This basically means moving online.

Needless to say, good online publishing is a lot richer than throwing a lot of content on a website. The project I'm working on involves working out what 'richer' should mean - and at its heart, 'richer' means 'social'. Your book covered everything that we've been struggling to work out by ourselves, with insight and strategic tactics to boot. It's made a huge difference to how I view our whole architecture, and I'll be encouraging all my colleagues to read it.

There were so many excellent ideas in this book. Personally, I can't wait to implement them.
