Lance, well you’ll know me. Let’s meet up and have a soda…despite my quip about beer in the post this will not be a party event for me, although I do plan to attend a social gathering or two.

This year will be my second SXSW. I have to admit I didn’t enjoy last year’s very much. The presentations for the most part tended to be less informative than I would have liked, and as a nondrinker I didn’t really feel at home at most of the social events (particluarly not knowing anyone there to begin with.)

I found April’s An Event Apart in Atlanta much more valuable – I wish the Boston AEA wasn’t in the same month as SXSW.

Giddy up. As an Austinite I'm biased, but I think SXSW/i by far gives you the best geek bang for the buck. Oh yeah, and get a Burnet Road from Taco Shack (breakfast) and a Chipotle Bacon burger from Jackalope (late-night). They're both just blocks from the convention center, and both will change your life.

Ahh you’re in for a treat if it’s your first SXSWi. I went last year for the first time and it was the coolest conference I’ve ever been to, I can’t wait for it this year.
