Landed here based on a link from Stowe Boyd.

I have always felt and believed this- Technology is just a tool that is applied to very human concerns. And its inevitable that parallels be drawn to other tools that aid human endeavors, including poetry! It is to the credit of your mind to make the parallels seem so natural.

I paused and savored the words, thank you! :-)

Excellent artice and beautifully written. Borges was truly a creative genious playing the lines of illusion between reality and fiction. In the end, it is truly devastating to "remeber everything" and it is one of human qualities to have selective memory. It is also great to see Fiction commenting Web 2.0 activities. This brings to mind another quote from author Rold Jenson "Businesses need to imagine their futures the way good novelists imagine their stories".

Very well written piece. I never made a connection between autistic like behaviour and these large databases. A point well made.

As technology becomes more pervasive in our personal lives, our lives become more impersonal within the confines of interacting with the technology.

Will there ever be a general awakening that too much technology can be a bad thing? I hope so.
