The only REAL place where the tension between digital and analog worlds and their relative "realness" is a big problem is in assessing mischief/possible mischief. For example, that cyber-terrorist who was implicated in that Canadian sting raises questions. Is the cyber "terrorist" committing acts that "really" hurt people. Maybe it isn't as hard as I think it is to determine what should be an offense and what should be free speech -- what "really" hurts people and what is just digital junk. But I totally agree with you that the naysayers who claim the blogosphere etc. is like a reality TV show just don't have a clue as to the real friendships, learning relationships, inspiration etc... that has been faciliated by the Internet and is booming now with Web 2.0. Great post.
