Can Design Change the World?
That’s the question being asked (and answered) at DesignCanChange.org, a pro-bono site built by smashLAB, a Vancouver-based design firm. (via gong szeto)

There’s a lot to like at this site. Not only do they provide excellent visuals that explain the concepts of climate change, but they also candidly address the impact that design has on the world. They also gives tips on how to take action.
Beautiful, inspired work.

Looking at the website now but in just to response to your write up, I can say that design can change the world in some ways.
Zen garden was one example how it changed the world in web design and you also have other examples like retro, van gough, picasso, 50s space age and the list goes on…

Designers designing for designers, I think : ) –nice site, well thought-out. The clear visuals reflect the clear steps they make from problem to the beginning of a solution.

It’s a great idea. Wish there could be a design award that was around the idea of designing political resolutions. Given Israel’s technological and scientific talent, and the social science pool thinking among both populations sympathetic to the Palestinians and Israelis, it could be a place to start.

It’s a nice thought, but will it work in reality on a large scale?
The site is really well done, though.
