How does Pubsub Linkcount Work?

Pubsub linkcount is confusing. I have no idea what it means. One day bokardo gets 3 inlinks and its ranked 1,691 (in the top 4% of something). The next day it gets zero links and drops down to 91,755. The day after that its gets 6 inlinks and rises to 14,617. It would seem that the rank is based on the activity of other sites somehow. Is this just counting the number of links on a given day and ranking by that day only?

Does anybody know what this means?

The LinkRank is based on the pattern of InLinks to your site over time. The “value” of an InLink is influenced by the “rank” of the site that linked to you as well as the age of the link. For instance, if a high ranked site links to you then that link will give you a higher score than a link from a lower ranked site. Also, the age of links is very significant. A link “today” is worth more than a link yesterday and a link yesterday is worth more than a link the day before yesterday. Additionally, we discount the value of multiple links from a single site. The forumula is a bit complicated…

Note: The daily LinkRank can be very volatile since they are based only on the most recent two weeks of linking. This volatility in the daily numbers is actually intentional on our part because we want a formula that allows normally low-ranked sites to rise rapidly if they get noticed. However, the volatility in the ranks is drastically reduced if you look at the 15 and 30 day averages LinkRanks. See: our LinkRank 1000 for example data. Note: In the near future, we’ll be publishing 15 and 30 day numbers for all sites — including your own.

Thanks, Bob. That’s exactly what I was looking for. Cool!

So do multiple links from a single site actually count more or less ?
