Doug Kaye has posted some graphs showing the attention being paid to podcasting at ITConversations. I’m thrilled that Doug is succeeding, and I’m proud to add to his tip jar periodically. He’s doing some of the best work on the Web. Check out ITConversations.com.

My cut at this is that podcasting is taking off for people who:

1. Will invest the time to podcast.
2. Will invest in production capabilities.

Most of the time, these two items apply to people who are already in media (podcasting seems to be really taking off in broadcasting). It also works for creative types who are looking for alternative distribution channels.

I constantly hear people saying that all it takes is a mic and a PC. However, it has never failed that when I probe them I learn about the time spent ahead scripting the podcast or remixing afterwards. Never.

As a result, I don’t think podcasting is for me, although I considered it.
