Expect More From Product Managers

Lots of good and potentially controversial ideas in here, a blog post by Laura Klein: Users Know: Expect More From Product Managers:

“Whatever their strategy, good product managers validate their features before they build them, and that’s why their ideas are so much more likely to improve the bottom line of the company. They don’t necessarily have better ideas. They just kill the bad ones before spending too much time on them.”

In my own experience the hard part is knowing when to kill something vs. when to give it more breathing room, as sometimes a really new idea can’t really be tested in low fidelity. Similar is Ev William’s call to not be too data-driven.
