Hope To Better The Person

Hope To Better The Person is a nice post by Brandon Leedy on the aim of product design, in which he examines a video by Charles Eames and draws parallels with Apple and others. His thesis:

“Ultimately, that’s what a good product does, it hopes to better the user. Not with technical specs or price, but with the effect it has on a user and the world around them through function and beauty.”

Definitely worth a read. A couple things to note: 1) This is not your everyday product vision…this is heavy, high minded stuff. 2) None of this would be known if the product makers didn’t tell their own stories. 3) Land, Eames, and Apple…hard to get away from those three when talking the ultimate in product design.

Hi there. So...I'm trying an experiment. I'm experimenting with product design and growth hacking strategies on a new project called What to Wear. It's a super simple service that sends you a daily email containing clothing recommendations based on the weather. My focus is to make it really useful, and it's free to sign up. Let me know what you think!
