When to kill or not to kill (a feature)

After linking to her previous post on product management and pointing out how in my experience the tough thing to know is when to kill a product, Laura Klein has graciously dug into that very problem in another post, well worth reading: To Kill or Not to Kill.

“Killing a feature or product is exceptionally difficult. It’s tough to know when to do it. It’s tough to figure out if you made the right decision. And it’s tough emotionally to let go of something you really thought was going to be great.”

Laura makes some good points here…it is often as much an emotional decision as an economic one.

Hi there. So...I'm trying an experiment. I'm experimenting with product design and growth hacking strategies on a new project called What to Wear. It's a super simple service that sends you a daily email containing clothing recommendations based on the weather. My focus is to make it really useful, and it's free to sign up. Let me know what you think!
